5 Cleaning Remedies and Life Hacks Using Natural Household Products

The daily tasks of cooking, cleaning, washing dishes, washing clothes, and putting things away is a time-consuming, monotonous task. It almost feels like it never ends. The larger your home is, the more places you must clean, too. Most people spend approximately 10 hours per week cleaning!

We all have busy lives and need extra time in our day. The time you can take back is the house cleaning time! Read below to find five fast cleaning tips using natural household products. These will leave your house cleaner, faster, cheaper. Plus, using these new life hacks will spice up and shorten your cleaning routine.

1.) Doing Dishes: Cloudy Glasses and Dirty Blenders

Revive your cloudy glasses! Remove built up cloudiness by soaking the glassware in white vinegar for 5 minutes. Then, rinse with your hands or a microfiber towel for extra shine as you dry.

Clean that dirty blender carefully! Cleaning a blender can be extremely difficult and dangerous due to the sharp blades. Instead of rinsing by hand, mix warm water, soap, and even baking soda. Then, blend it in for a few seconds. Finally, give it a quick rinse with water to clean it all off.

2.) Homemade Drain Cleaner

Now you’ve done the dishes, so we can move on to the sink and drain itself. With just a few easy steps, you can make homemade drain cleaner that will clean out your drain without corroding it. All you will need is baking soda and vinegar, but you can also add lemon juice for a refreshing scent. First, pour a half cup of baking soda down the drain. Then, pour a half cup of vinegar down the drain. Wait for fifteen minutes. After that, pour boiling water into the drain. Now, you can flush the drain with some more hot water and add in lemon juice or a natural essential oil like lavender or eucalyptus to leave your kitchen odorless and clean inside and out.

3.) DIY Window Cleaner

To make the best window washing solution at home, mix together 1 and a half cup of water, 1 and a half cup rubbing alcohol, and 2 tablespoons of white vinegar (if you have any). This combination can be poured into a spray bottle and will work as well as Windex, but without the harsh chemicals. Again, you can add essential oils to the mixture for a nice and natural scent. This will leave your windows clean and clear, allowing light to enter your home!

4.) Reorganize Your Closets

You will never know what you have, until you clean your closets! Properly organizing your closets just one time will make cleaning easier for months to come. Some tools you can use to organize your closet are collapsible closets from Amazon, or even extra shelves and baskets you have lying around. This goes for your personal closet, kids’ closets, and even the linen closet.

5.) Cleaning Up With Children

Speaking of kids, we have some special life hacks for parents! We know children can sometimes leave behind a mess after playtime is over. But - we also know life hacks that can make cleaning up with children easy as 1-2-3!

  1. Use baking soda to clean crayon stains off of the walls.
  2. Use a vacuum cleaner and lint roller to get glitter out glitter from rugs and crevices.
